- (Optional) Salt the rim of the serving glasses and add ice

Variations:
The variations on this margarita are endless. (Just search the internet.) Here are a few variations we often enjoy in our home on taco night.
- Lite – Reduce the mixture to equal parts lime juice, orange liqueur, and tequila (1-1-1). This is how my wife likes them.
- Sparkling – Top the margarita with two parts carbonated water to make it fizzy and even more refreshing.
- Sweet – Replace the orange liqueur with simple syrup. Now it tastes like the margaritas at most restaurants.
- Spicy – Add Tajin to rim of serving glass and drop a slice of jalapeno in the serving glass as a garnish. Adds a nice kick!
Liquor Brands:
Obviously, you can switch out the liquor brands I listed above. You can go more expensive with a tequila like Patron and an orange liqueur like Grand Marnier. You can go cheaper with a tequila like Jose Cuervo and an orange liquor like Triple Sec. But after years of experimenting, I think the brands I recommended above hit the perfect balance of tart and sweet and strong and cold.
